Business Experience

Prior to the formation of Vireo Solutions Ltd, Barrie worked in a number of  organisations covering a wide variety of sectors including the following:-

• Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers

Various firms ranging in size from 1 to 7 Partners. Barrie had exposure to a wide range of small and medium sized business in a large number of business sectors. During this time he was involved in a wide range of services including tax, audit, accounts preparation, and business planning.

• easyJet

Barrie was easyJet’s first Financial Controller in 1996. During the 3 year period that he was Financial Controller, the company’s turnover increased from virtually nothing to £150m. He was successful in developing and implementing processes, systems and controls and a finance team to cope with the unprecedented growth. The Financial Management and Accounting system that he selected and implemented is still being used by the company.

• Dial-a-Phone Ltd [UK's largest direct seller of mobile phones]

Barrie was Financial Controller and Company Secretary. He successfully developed and implemented a number of systems, processes and controls.

During Barrie’s 3 years at Dial-a-Phone, turnover increased from £30m to £130m. He managed a team of 18 people and attended all Board Meetings

• Ladbroke Racing Ltd

Barrie managed betting offices in a number of locations. He was responsible for the running of the shops including finance, marketing and staff management.
